Welcome to Women's Self Defence UK

According to statistical data, every 1 in 5 women will be assaulted in her life.
How about the cases that never get reported?

If you are worried about your safety, consider taking up self-defence classes, or enrolling into martial arts training. It is never too late to learn!

Why to choose self-defence?

  • Gain confidence

  • Learn practical skills which you can apply to effectively deal with conflicts

  • Find your strengths which can be employed in stressful situations

  • Become more aware of threats and dangers in the surrounding environment

This Program is unique, as it caters specifically to women and children based in the UK.

It covers the topics of self defence as it applies to the British law, delves deep into the psychology of threats and addresses solely those issues that vulnerable members of public are likely to face in their daily lives.

While our headquarters are in Richmond (Surrey), we deliver workshops to individuals and groups all over London and the surrounding areas.

A lot of my work on is based on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) techniques. BJJ is a martial art in which a smaller opponent can have a technical advantage over a bigger adversary by utilising leverage, take downs and choke holds. Jiu Jitsu is also one of very few martial arts that addresses the issue of defence when the fight goes to the ground. When faced with a threat, a physically smaller person is at a strength disadvantage, therefore psychology and smart choices must be employed when defending oneself. Jiu Jitsu is more than just a martial art. It is also a philosophy and a way of life. In Portuguese it is described as 'arte suave' which translates into 'gentle art'.

In Jiu Jitsu one faces their fears and weaknesses and discovers true joy that comes with overcoming obstacles by pushing through mental and physical barriers. Jiu Jitsu is a beautiful path of

self-discovery and finding inner strength.
